Alfombra de piel sintética para tu escritorio
Llegó el frío a Santiago, y por más que tengamos ganas de quedarnos bajo un kilo de frazadas, la vida continúa.
Por eso, y pensando en el consejo de este post, sobre tener un espacio de trabajo cómodo, se me ocurrió darle un poco de calidez a mi escritorio con una alfombra peluda.
Si bien existen este tipo de opciones en el mercado, tengo dos problemas: 1.- no uso pieles naturales, sólo sintéticas, y 2.- el precio.
Fue así como me fui a dar una vuelta por calle Rosas, y llegué a la tienda Zarzar (Rosas 1033, entre Puente y Bandera), que vende gran variedad de pieles sintéticas. Para probar este invento decidí comprar dos tipos, una blanca de pelo largo y una gris de pelo más corto. Les digo de inmediato que la primera opción fue todo un desastre, porque el pelo se sale y queda pegado en todas partes, así que evítenla a toda costa.
Por el contrario, la segunda alternativa de pelo más corto ($3.900 el metro) resultó excelente, fácil de usar y del tono perfecto porque no se ensucia fácilmente.

Synthetic fur rug for your desk
The cold has arrived in Santiago and as much you need to keep wrapped up under a bunch of blankets, life goes on.
That’s why, thinking about these advices and the need for a comfortable workspace, I thought it was a good idea to give a little bit of warmth to my desk with a nice furry rug.
While there are lots of options on the market I have two problems. 1: I don’t use natural fur, only synthetic. 2: the cost.
So it was with this in mind that I went to have a look along the street called “Rosas” , And I came across a shop called Zarzar (Rosas 1033, between Puente and Banderas), which sells a whole variety of synthetic furs. To try out my idea I decided to buy two types, a long haired white one and a shorter hair grey one. Let me tell you straight away the first option was a total disaster because the hair fell out and got stuck everywhere so avoid that at all costs!
On the other hand, the second shorter hair alternative (CH$3900 per metre) turned out to be excellent, easy to use and the perfect colour because it doesn’t get dirty easily.
Para este proyecto compré un metro de piel sintética, y lo único que debes hacer, tras lavarla, es cortarla realizando formas onduladas (si quieres te puedes guiar marcado la forma con un lápiz). No es necesario que sigas ningún patrón, sólo asegúrate que la medida sea la adecuada para que quepa bajo tu mesa.
Si quieres que tu alfombra tenga más altura y sea más blanda, puedes usar dos cortes de tela, cortados exactamente iguales, uno sobre otro.
¡Eso es todo! No es necesario realizar costuras porque no se deshilacha (como la de pelo más largo), así que puedes ponerla inmediatamente bajo tu escritorio.

For this project I bought 1 m of synthetic fur, and all you need to do after washing it, is to cut it into a wavy pattern (if you want you can mark it first with a pen as a guide). It’s not necessary to follow any pattern, just make sure that the measurements are right so that it fits underneath your desk.
If you want your rug to be deeper and softer you can use two pieces of material cut to exactly the same shape one on top of the other.
That’s it! It’s not necessary to stitch anything because it won’t fray (like the long haired version did), so you can stick it straight under your desk.
Verás como en un segundo tu espacio de trabajo se verá más cálido y ad hoc para este invierno.
Por mi parte, mientras escribo este post, estoy sólo con calcetines disfrutando de lo cálido y suave de mi nueva alfombra.
