You wanted to know how to make the Mixtape flowers on Pooi's layout and card from this past week (and let's be honest, I want to know how to, too!) and she graciously granted our wish! Here is a step-by-step photo tutorial teaching us how to make these wonderful Mixtape flower embellishments:
Supplies: 12x12 Cardstock White (71081) - AC Cardstock, White Medium Jewel Brads (85297) - Elements, Wish Decorative Tape (61734) – Mixtape, Stream Decorative Tape (61733) – Mixtape; Other: Circle punches, decorative scissors
Pooi says, "I really love Mixtape by American Crafts and they are available in a variety of colours and designs. Let’s have fun playing with the Mixtape to make these cute flowers!"
Step 1 – Punch out or hand cut different sized circles from a piece of white cardstock.
Step 2 - Use a pair of decorative scissors to cut a spiral into the circle, from the outside to the inside.
Step 4 – Tear different pieces and colors of Mixtape then wrap them around the spiral. Remember to tear the Mixtape and not neatly cut is because the tearing leaves the edges raw and adds character to the flower. Plus it's easier to just tear the Mixtape than take the time to cut it.
Step 6 - Next, start to roll or twirl the spiral from the outer edge to the inner edge using your fingers. You can also use a small stick in the twirling process if you need that little help.
Step 7 - This is what the little lovely bloom should look like at this point - (I'm holding it tightly with my fingers:
Step 8 - Leave the flower on the table to let it spring or ‘grow’ bigger, adjust it to the size that you want, then curl the edges.
Thanks for sharing this great idea!
