DIY :: Pop Up Place Cards

diy napkin ring place card craft project easy paper bright summer colors wedding ideas

Lunch yesterday was bittersweet: Camille and I (Chanel) met our three fabulous interns for lunch at La Condesa (that was the sweet part) for a farewell get-together before the girls all go their separate ways for the summer and beyond. Their contribution around here has been immeasurable, and one of the last projects that they helped me with was these way cute (and way easy) pop up place cards that double as eye catching napkin rings. With just a colored printer and a craft knife we were able to create a totally unique and colorful detail that paired beautifully with a bold patterned napkin. Keep reading to see how we did it, and be sure to stop by later today for Michelle’s latest installment of Do You Dare!

  • cover weight card stock paper
  • scissors or paper cutter
  • craft knife
  • double-sided tape

  1. Print out guest names onto cover weight card stock in the color of your choice. We recommend using all caps in a bold block font, like Ariel Black or Impact
  2. Cut each name out in a 6 x 1.5 inch strip
  3. Use a craft knife to carefully trace the edge of each letter, leaving the bottom edge uncut
  4. Carefully pull up letters and crease to position vertically
  5. Use a piece of double-sided tape to secure paper strip into a ring, and slide onto a rolled up napkin

What FONT SIZE did you use?

    • Chanel Dror says:

Hi Avis, I would keep the size around 40 pt., depending on the font. If it’s a long name, I would go smaller with less spacing between the letters. Hope that helps!
